Welcome to my blog, “Digging the Earth”! You might be wondering about the name and what it means. Well, if you haven’t already guessed, it has two meanings that reflect the heart of this blog.
First, there’s the literal meaning. As a gardener, “Digging the Earth” represents the hands-on work of planting, nurturing, and growing organic vegetables, fruits, and herbs. It’s about getting your hands dirty, connecting with the soil, and creating something beautiful and sustainable. I should note that I have become a fan of the no-dig method over the past ten years, but let’s keep things simple!
There’s also a deeper, more symbolic meaning, “Digging the Earth” also reflects my passion for the natural world and the joy I find in learning about and sharing sustainable gardening practices, I “dig” it. It’s about loving the earth and wanting to protect and nurture it, just like we do with our gardens and allotments.
I want to introduce you to my updated logo! Designed to appeal more to children and young people, this new logo brings a playful and fun vibe to “Digging the Earth.”
So whether you’re here to learn practical tips for your garden or follow a very realistic busy gardener’s journey (no-show allotments here!), “Digging the Earth” is a place where we can grow together – both literally and figuratively.
Sarah.
